We push OSHA 10 and 30 as a floor, not a ceiling. Affiliate safety directors run coordinated stand-downs on the hazards that actually kill people in this trade: falls, struck-by, caught-between, electrocution and heat.
About the Council
The Nashville Building & Construction Trades Council is comprised of 16 affiliated local unions, each representing the skilled construction workforce of Nashville and Middle Tennessee.
Our mission
Raise the standard on every jobsite in Middle Tennessee.
The Nashville Building Trades Council is a federation of 16 local unions, representing the full range of construction trades. Delegates meet monthly to set common policy, coordinate manpower across trades, and work collectively on workforce development, project labor agreements, and jobsite safety.
Each local negotiates its own agreements with its own contractor association — that is not the Council’s role. What the Council delivers is coordination: 16 organizations that can arrive as one workforce, one point of contact for anyone building in Middle Tennessee, and one voice for the trades.

What we do
Four jobs, every day
Training & apprenticeship
Every affiliate runs a registered apprenticeship funded jointly with its contractors. The Council recruits into those programs, supports pre-apprenticeship pathways, and keeps the pipeline full for the decade of work ahead.
Advocacy
We show up at Metro Council, the Planning Commission and the General Assembly for responsible bidder standards, prevailing wage, apprentice utilization on public work, and wage-theft and misclassification enforcement.
Community
Veteran accessibility builds, disaster response, school career fairs, charitable projects with our signatory contractors. We live in the neighborhoods we build.
